Softball Recap: Horizon Christian's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Horizon Christian strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils 10-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Horizon Christian also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Lucy Long made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Horizon Christian got a big performance out of Brooke Wrightsman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Abby Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Horizon Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Shortridge only posted an OBP of .067.

Horizon Christian pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horizon Christian will take on Eminence at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they will square off against Christel House at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Blue Devils will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
