Westminster Christian suffered their biggest defeat since January 4th on Thursday. They came up short against the Mater Lakes Academy Bears, falling 71-46. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Westminster Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angelina Fernandez, who posted 21 points. That was a full 45.7% of Westminster Christian's points, marking the 19th time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Palczynski, who had 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Mater Lakes Academy found their leader in sophomore Vanessa Vancott, who dropped a double-double on 38 points and 18 rebounds. Vancott's evening made it 22 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lorena Fernandez, who went 6 for 15 en route to 16 points and four blocks.

Westminster Christian's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
