Softball Recap: St. Ignace Saints vs. Manistique Emeralds

St. Ignace extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-8 in the process. They lost 15-7 to the Manistique Emeralds. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Emeralds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 on Friday.

Cadence Cullen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Manistique, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6. The result was nothing new for the Emeralds, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Manistique's side, Malia Blixt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Kamry Flodin was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Ignace will venture away from home to face off against Alanson at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Manistique, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Munising at 6:00 p.m. on the 19th.
