Baseball Recap: Charleston Comes Up Short

Charleston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Taylorville Tornadoes. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Charleston's loss dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Taylorville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charleston will head out to take on Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Taylorville, they will square off against Mt. Zion at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
