Softball Game Preview: Central Wise Warriors vs. Gate City Blue Devils

The Central Wise Warriors will face off against the Gate City Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Central Wise has four straight victories, Gate City has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Gate City's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Central Wise hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand Ridgeview a 4-0 shutout on Thursday.

Not much got past Kaelyn Dales, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Ridgeview off the board. Dales has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Gate City didn't have quite enough to beat Abingdon on Friday and fell 6-4.

Central Wise pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gate City, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Everything went Central Wise's way against Gate City when the teams last played on Wednesday, as Central Wise made off with an 8-0 win. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
