Palmetto was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 14-11 to the Belton-Honea Path Bears. Even though they lost, the Mustangs' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Palmetto got a massive performance out of Carrigan Holbert, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Graelyn Adams also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Palmetto's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Belton-Honea Path, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Looking ahead, Palmetto will challenge Wren at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Wren will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Belton-Honea Path, they will square off against Clover at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Belton-Honea Path's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Clover's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
