Softball Recap: Alameda Has No Trouble Against San Leandro

Alameda was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against San Leandro on Wednesday. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Pirates. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Desiree Shoblo was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Mia Wong was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Alameda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .607. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Alameda is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for San Leandro, their loss dropped their record down to 17-4.
