The Page Patriots will face off against the Coffee County Central Red Raiders on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Page comes in on four and Coffee County Central on six.
While Page's victory against Lincoln County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Falcons 9-7.
Ashley Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Adriana Callahan and Anna Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Callahan went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Anna went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most hits Johnson has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, Coffee County Central hadn't done well against Nolensville recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Red Raiders put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 9-1 victory. Considering the Red Raiders have won 12 contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Lily Norman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, Paisley Campbell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Savannah Cooper, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Coffee County Central's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-12. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Page, their win bumped their record up to 19-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Page hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Coffee County Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Page beat Coffee County Central 7-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
