Softball Game Preview: Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees vs. Trinity Christian Warriors

The Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees will head out on the road to take on the Trinity Christian Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clay-Battelle will be strutting in after a win while Trinity Christian will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Monday, Clay-Battelle had just enough and edged out Valley 11-9. The Cee-Bees haven't had any issues with the Lumberjacks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Clay-Battelle got a massive performance out of Olivia Summers, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Summers hit this season. Alyssa Nicholson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Trinity Christian suffered their biggest loss since April 30, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 23-6 to Madonna. The Warriors have struggled against the Blue Dons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Josalyn Phillips made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Titus, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Trinity Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Clay-Battelle, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Trinity Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clay-Battelle hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .472. It's a different story for Trinity Christian, though, as they've only averaged .239. Will they be able to contain Clay-Battelle's hitters?

Clay-Battelle suffered a grim 16-4 defeat to Trinity Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Cee-Bees avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
