Preview: Sardis Lions vs. Jacksonville Golden Eagles
After two games on the road, Sardis is heading back home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Wednesday, Sardis ended up a good deal behind Cherokee County and lost 55-40. Sardis has struggled against Cherokee County recently, as their match on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Jacksonville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 60-40 margin over Glencoe. With that victory, Jacksonville brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
Jacksonville relied on the efforts of Deasia Prothro, who scored eight points along with five assists and five rebounds, and Alexis Phillips, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. The game was Phillips' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Emmerson Weaver, who scored five points.
Sardis' defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Jacksonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season.
