Basketball Game Preview: Sandy Creek Cougars vs. David City Scouts

The Sandy Creek Cougars will challenge the David City Scouts at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sandy Creek will be strutting in after a win while David City will be coming in after a loss.

Sandy Creek is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. They breezed past Wood River to the tune of 69-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Cougars have posted against the Eagles since December 31, 2019.

Sandy Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamerin Sealey led the charge by going 6-for-10 on his way to 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Shaw, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 12 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, David City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 35-30 heartbreaker at the hands of Centennial.

Sandy Creek strolled past David City when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 59-40. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Scouts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
