Softball Recap: Jefferson Davis County Jaguars vs. Stringer Red Devils
If Jefferson Davis County was feeling good fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Magee on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jaguars came up short against the Stringer Red Devils on Monday, falling 19-8. The Jaguars haven't had much luck with the Red Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Dzayviunna Peyton put in work no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Peyton was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Morgan Ball was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Kawuai Stewart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Jefferson Davis County's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Stringer, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-5-1.
Coming up, Jefferson Davis County will take on Pisgah at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stringer does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
