Baseball Recap: Pekin Comes Up Short

Pekin and Canton pushed the score to 10-9 the last time they played Canton, but on Wednesday defenses reigned supreme. The Dragons fell just short of the Little Giants by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Dragons have suffered since April 8th.

Pekin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Sanders, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Pekin's defeat was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Canton, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 6-16-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pekin will venture away from home to take on East Moline United at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Canton, they will head out to face off against Illinois Valley Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
