Volleyball Recap: Floyd Central Comes Up Short

Floyd Central lost against St. Xavier back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Highlanders lost 3-0 to the Tigers. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-11, 25-17.

Luke Piper paced Floyd Central's offense, picking up seven kills. Piper got some help from Carson Mingus and his 13 assists.

St. Xavier's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josh Walsh led the charge by getting 19 assists. Walsh is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 12 or more in each of the last three games he's played. Paul Bryant also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Floyd Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for St. Xavier, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Floyd Central will welcome Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Xavier, they will square off against Waggener at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
