Central and Hudson are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Central Bears will welcome the Hudson Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Central and Weeki Wachee had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Central put the hurt on Weeki Wachee with a sharp 8-2 win on Tuesday. Considering the Bears have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ryan Engley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayden Warren, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Talyn Poole, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weeki Wachee only posted a batting average of .179.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Hudson was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They came up short against River Ridge, falling 11-2.
Hudson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Tysko, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Hudson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Central, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hudson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Central took their win against Hudson when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2. Does Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hudson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
