Basketball Game Preview: West Scranton Invaders vs. Valley View Cougars

West Scranton is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Valley View is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Invaders will take on the Cougars in a holiday battle at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. This will be West Scranton's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

On Wednesday, West Scranton didn't have quite enough to beat Lakeland and fell 47-45. The loss was the Invaders' first of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley View). They blew past Wyoming Valley West, posting a 71-41 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Spartans are ranked 328th).

Having lost for the first time this season, West Scranton fell to 3-1. As for Valley View, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

West Scranton was taken down by Valley View 82-54 in their previous matchup back in January. Can the Invaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
