Basketball Game Preview: Mathis Pirates vs. West Oso Bears

The Mathis Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the West Oso Bears at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mathis will head out to face West Oso after giving up their first home loss of the season last Friday. Mathis fell 60-49 to London. While losing is never fun, Mathis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1157th, while London is ranked 332nd).

Meanwhile, West Oso beat Wharton 61-53 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

West Oso's win came from a few key players Mathis will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Amarre Sanders, who posted 13 points. C'Angelo Richardson was another key player, putting up 15 points.

West Oso is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Mathis, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-8.
