Basketball Recap: Craig Griffin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Durham School of the Arts over Vance County

Durham School of the Arts was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost to the Vance County Vipers on the road by a 66-51 margin. The Bulldogs were probably out for revenge after losing 53-45 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Durham School of the Arts lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Craig Griffin, who posted 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Griffin a new career-high in points. Tony McDonald was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 15 points.

Kayden Roberts was a one-man wrecking crew for Vance County as he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Harold Timberlake, IV, who had ten points and three steals.

Durham School of the Arts' defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Vance County, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10.

Durham School of the Arts will welcome South Granville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Granville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.1 points per game this season. As for Vance County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-56 win against Graham on the 20th.
