Volleyball Recap: Columbus Wins High-Profile Contest Against Coral Gables

Columbus faced Coral Gables in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Columbus narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Coral Gables 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Explorers, who have now won three games in a row.

Lucas Riva paced Columbus' offense, picking up 11 kills. Riva got some help from Charlie Friguls and his 29 assists.

Columbus' victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Coral Gables, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Coincidentally, Columbus and Coral Gables will both be playing Palmetto the next time they take the court. Columbus will head out to face Palmetto at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Coral Gables will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
