Soccer Game Preview: University vs. Fairmont Senior

The University Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

University is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Parkersburg, who was ranked 13th at the time (University was ranked 14th). The Hawks and the Big Reds finished up their match with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

University's goal came courtesy of Ava Gizzi, who's now up to nine this season.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Fairmont Senior made sure to put some goals up on the board against Philip Barbour on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 5-1 win. Considering Fairmont Senior's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The victory made it two in a row for Fairmont Senior and bumps their season record up to 8-3-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored six goals over those two contests. With that draw, University's record moves to 11-3-3.
