Basketball Recap: Mackinac Island Beats Nah Tah Wahsh for Their Sixth Straight Win

Mackinac Island had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They came out on top against Nah Tah Wahsh by a score of 44-37. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but the Lakers were the better team in the second half.

Mackinac Island was led to victory by Madison Gamble and Lakelyn Bunker. Gamble dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds, while Bunker almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 boards. Gamble has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last nine times she's played. Madison Morse was another key player, putting up two points and seven boards.

Mackinac Island smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Mackinac Island pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.5 points per game. As for Nah Tah Wahsh, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Nah Tah Wahsh beat Mackinac Island by a score of 38-34 on Saturday.
