Basketball Recap: Escalante Takes a Loss

Escalante was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They took a 54-38 bruising from the Penasco Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-19 last Saturday.

It was another big night for Rochelle Lopez, who posted 20 points in addition to seven boards and six steals for Penasco. The matchup was Lopez's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. Katalina Atencio was another key player, putting up ten points and five steals.

Escalante's loss dropped their record down to 1-23. As for Penasco, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season.

Coming up, Escalante will square off against Mora at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Escalante is facing Mora at the right time seeing as Mora is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Penasco, they will take on Mesa Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mesa Vista will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Penasco surely won't give up without a fight.
