Basketball Game Preview: West Holt Huskies vs. Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Bobcats

The West Holt Huskies and the Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Bobcats will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as West Holt comes in on six and Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] on five.

West Holt will bounce into Saturday's matchup after beating Elkhorn Valley, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. West Holt came out on top in a nail-biter against Elkhorn Valley on Friday, sneaking past 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskies have posted since January 30, 2024.

Meanwhile, Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] beat Plainview 53-44 on Friday. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Pirates are ranked 95th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Holt better keep an eye on Sam Cheatum. He was instrumental in Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s win, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards Cheatum has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Hoke, who earned ten points.

Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] pushed their record up to 18-1 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. As for West Holt, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.

West Holt couldn't quite finish off Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] in their previous meeting back in January and fell 43-40. Can West Holt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
