Softball Recap: Colby Extends Winning Streak to Six

Colby came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Hugoton. Colby might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Ryler Carter was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Carter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Colby got a massive performance out of Briley Kleinsorge, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Kleinsorge a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Myka Nolan, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Colby hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Colby pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Hugoton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Colby will head out to challenge Sublette at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hugoton, they will be playing at home against Stanton County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
