Softball Game Preview: Mayer Wildcats vs. St. Michael Cardinals

The Mayer Wildcats will challenge the St. Michael Cardinals at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mayer will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Mayer is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Maryvale Prep on Thursday as they made off with a 34-24 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, St. Michael came up short against El Capitan on Saturday, falling 12-6. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rhyley Meyers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Mayer is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for St. Michael, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
