Basketball Recap: Prairie View Takes a Loss

Prairie View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Westminster Wolves and fell 65-25. The Thunderhawks lost against the Wolves in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 37-27 score last time.

Westminster's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Naomi Saldana led the charge by putting up 24 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Saldana has scored at least a third of Westminster's points. Jayla Talmich-Martinez was another key player, posting 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Prairie View's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Westminster, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Prairie View will host Riverdale Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverdale Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season. As for Westminster, they will challenge Pomona at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westminster is facing Pomona at the right time seeing as Pomona is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
