It was a good run, but Pierce unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Dakota Valley Panthers by a score of 3-2. The Bluejays were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Pierce sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-15, 20-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-10.
Nora Herian paced Pierce's offense, picking up 28 kills. Herian got some help from Adrienne Riggert and her 44 assists. Herian was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Coryn Kimbell was the offensive standout of the contest as she had six digs and six assists. Those six assists gave her a new career-high. Taylor Piel also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.
Pierce's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Dakota Valley, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2.
Pierce wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against North Bend Central on the 4th. As for Dakota Valley, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Ponca on the 2nd.
