Casey-Westfield extended their winning streak to nine on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 28-3 in the process. Everything went their way against the Christ Our Rock Lutheran Silver Stallions as they made off with a 17-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 22 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Ava Goble was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up six earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in April.
In other batting news, Lucy Moore and Anna Karras did most of the damage at the plate: Moore went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Karras went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most doubles Moore has posted since back in April. Arhianna Bonds was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base.
Casey-Westfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christ Our Rock Lutheran only posted an OBP of .406.
As for Christ Our Rock Lutheran, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-3. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging 2.61 runs allowed.
On Christ Our Rock Lutheran's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Williamson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another was Kylie Nalewajka, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Coming up, Casey-Westfield will head out on the road to take on Mattoon at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Christ Our Rock Lutheran has already played their next contest (against Neoga), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
