The Enumclaw Hornets will challenge the Decatur Golden Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Enumclaw is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Enumclaw came up short against North Thurston and fell 6-2. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly four runs.
Enumclaw got a good showing from Taylor Moorman, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Moorman hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March.
At the plate, Enumclaw saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kannius Alva, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Decatur). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Beamer a 13-0 shutout on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Gators, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Julian Boone, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Cervantes (CJ) Gatterson was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.
Decatur always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beamer only posted an OBP of .238.
Enumclaw now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Decatur, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
Enumclaw's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Hornets have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Decatur, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Enumclaw continue to outrun the ball?
Enumclaw came out on top in a nail-biter against Decatur when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Gators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
