Basketball Recap: Centura's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Centura lost against Sutton back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Centura Centurions came up short against the Sutton Mustangs, falling 49-27. While losing is never fun, the Centurions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Mustangs are ranked 20th).

Despite the loss, Centura still got an impressive performance from Barrett Fries, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and five blocks. Fries has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times he's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sutton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Weston Ohrt, who put up 12 points. That's the most points Ohrt has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Herndon, who had 12 points.

With the loss, Centura broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4. As for Sutton, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Centura wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-51 defeat against Gothenburg on the 11th. As for Sutton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-49 loss against Cross County on the 9th.
