Volleyball Recap: Macomb Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Emily Westerhold and Jordyn Shoopman

After a string of four wins, Macomb's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Mendon Unity Mustangs by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 last Saturday.

Macomb came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-23, 28-26.

Macomb's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jordyn Shoopman, who had 11 digs and two aces, and Emily Westerhold, who had ten digs and three assists.

Macomb's defeat dropped their record down to 18-12. As for Mendon Unity, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-4.

Looking ahead, Macomb will take on Lincoln in a tournament on Friday. Mendon Unity has already played their next contest (against Illini West), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
