Preview: Hillsboro Trojans vs. Council Grove Braves
Hillsboro has been on the road for five straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Council Grove Braves at 7:30 p.m.
Last Friday, Hillsboro came up short against Southeast of Saline and fell 62-50.
Meanwhile, Council Grove's nine-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 61-48 victory over Northern Heights. Council Grove's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Kolby Rose and Brycen Palmquist were among the main playmakers for Council Grove as the former scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals and the latter scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Palmquist has scored at least 25% of Council Grove's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Buttrey, who scored two points along with eight assists and four steals.
Hillsboro's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Council Grove, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-4.
Hillsboro and Council Grove were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but Hillsboro came up empty-handed after a 52-51 loss.
