Baseball Game Preview: Churubusco Eagles vs. Bluffton Tigers

The Churubusco Eagles will take on the Bluffton Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

Churubusco made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Eastside, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Blazers by a score of 4-2 on Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Blazers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Churubusco saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Deryan Gordon, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Bluffton was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They fell just short of Wapahani by a score of 4-2. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Bluffton's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Churubusco, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Churubusco has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bluffton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Churubusco couldn't quite get it done against Bluffton in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 as they fell 8-5. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
