Softball Recap: Spring-Ford Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Spring-Ford's offense. They fell just short of the Perkiomen Valley Vikings by a score of 1-0 on Friday. That makes it the first time this season the Rams have let down their home crowd.

Jess Fliszar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Spring-Ford's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Perkiomen Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Spring-Ford will face off against rival Owen J. Roberts at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.1, the Wildcats 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Perkiomen Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe Boyertown at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
