The North Raleigh Christian Academy Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Cary Academy Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Raleigh Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season.
Last Friday, North Raleigh Christian Academy came up short against Durham Academy and fell 74-61. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now lost four in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tristan Thompson, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 10 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennen Jefferson, who posted 14 points.
Even though they lost, North Raleigh Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Durham Academy only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cary Academy also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Ravenscroft by a score of 53-40. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Ravens are ranked 66th).
Despite the defeat, Cary Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Julian Tweedy dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Tweedy's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Champ Lando was another key player, putting up eight points.
North Raleigh Christian Academy now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Cary Academy, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: North Raleigh Christian Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Cary Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
