Softball Recap: Notre Dame Academy Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Notre Dame Academy waltzed into their game on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Northbridge Rams. This was payback for the Rebels, who suffered a 6-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Erin Connor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Notre Dame Academy got a massive performance out of Ava Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Erika Larson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Notre Dame Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.

Notre Dame Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Northbridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame Academy will venture away from home to square off against Advanced Math & Science Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rebels 3.2, the Eagles 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Northbridge, they are taking a road trip to face off against Quaboag Regional on Monday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.25 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
