Basketball Recap: Crawford County Takes a Loss

Crawford County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Marion County Eagles, falling 66-28. Crawford County was down 44-19 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Crawford County still got an impressive performance from Kamarli McGuire, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 14 points along with five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Stallion, who posted five points and five rebounds.

Marion County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Valencia Alridge out in front who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. That's the most points Alridge has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sage Davis, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 17 points along with seven steals and five assists.

Crawford County's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Marion County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Macon County the next time they take the court. Crawford County will head out to face Macon County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Marion County will host them at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
