Baseball Recap: Greenwood Comes Up Short

Greenwood lost against Newport on Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Wildcats fell 10-5 to the Buffaloes. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

A.J. Adlon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Greenwood is 2-1 when Adlon posts two or more runs, but 4-11 otherwise.

Greenwood's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Newport, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenwood will face off against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats are facing the WolfPack at the right time seeing as the WolfPack are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Newport, they will square off against Juniata at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buffaloes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
