The Cumberland Colts will face off against the Kingsway Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Cumberland needed a bit of extra time to put away Pennsville Memorial. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 2-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Colts as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Daniel Orr tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Peyton Brenner, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Kingsway had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They blew past the Red Devils 14-4. The Dragons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Dylan Rickards was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Brayden Thorp was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Kingsway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Kingsway's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Cumberland, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-8.
Cumberland suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Kingsway in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Will the Colts have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
