Recap: Hitchcock County Falcons vs. Cambridge Trojans
The Hitchcock County Falcons couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 41-30 to Cambridge on Thursday. Hitchcock County has not had much luck with Cambridge recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Hitchcock County saw an underclassman step up: Asia Homma scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Byanka Tyan, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Hitchcock County were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cambridge only pulled down three.
Cambridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Erin Johnson, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Kent, who scored 5 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Hitchcock County's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Cambridge, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Hitchcock County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Medicine Valley at 6:15 p.m. on December 14th. As for Cambridge, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wauneta-Palisade at 6:30 p.m.
