Softball Game Preview: Sun Prairie West Wolves vs. Vel Phillips Memorial Spartans

The Sun Prairie West Wolves will head out to square off against the Vel Phillips Memorial Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sun Prairie West will be strutting in after a win while Vel Phillips Memorial will be coming in after a defeat.

On Monday, Sun Prairie West made easy work of McFarland and carried off an 18-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Sun Prairie West got a great performance from Kaelynn Endres as she pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Endres has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooke Rhoads, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Audrey Davis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Sun Prairie West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Vel Phillips Memorial had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against Middleton, falling 13-2. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Sun Prairie West now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Vel Phillips Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Sun Prairie West couldn't quite get it done against Vel Phillips Memorial in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 12-8. Can Sun Prairie West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
