Softball Recap: Father McGivney Catholic Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Okawville, Father McGivney Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Metro-East Lutheran Knights by a score of 8-3. The Griffins haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Avery Grenzebach was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Morgan Zobrist was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Father McGivney Catholic's record is now 7-8. As for Metro-East Lutheran, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Father McGivney Catholic will venture away from home to square off against New Athens at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Metro-East Lutheran, they will host Althoff Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
