Baseball Recap: Portage Central Takes a Loss

If Portage Central was riding high fresh off their 11-3 takedown of Buchanan on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs fell just short of the Harper Creek Beavers by a score of 6-4 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered since May 10th.

Portage Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kai Torre, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Torre has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Brody Wallace was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Portage Central's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-20. As for Harper Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6-1 record this season.

While Portage Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
