Softball Recap: Southside Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lejeune

There's no place like home for Southside, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past the Lejeune Devil Pups 15-2 on Monday. The Seahawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Carolina Crisp made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Layla Hombirg was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily McLean, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Southside has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Lejeune, they dropped their record down to 4-13-1 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Southside has already played their next contest, an 11-1 loss against East Carteret on the 29th. As for Lejeune, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-1 defeat against Northside - Pinetown on the 29th.
