Cherokee Trail and Cherry Creek are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2019, but not for long. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Bruins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cherokee Trail proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by three) and last Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a set and slipped past Grandview 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since August 21st.

Cherokee Trail had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-27, 25-23, 25-20, 15-12.

Alize Flores had a dynamite game, getting 14 digs and four aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in August of 2024.

Cherry Creek had won two straight games and Aubrey Blake did her part to make it three on Thursday. The Bruins were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Eaglecrest for which the team can thank Blake, who had 16 digs and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

While Cherry Creek might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Eaglecrest scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-23, 25-22.

The victory got Cherry Creek back to even at 5-5. As for Cherokee Trail, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Cherokee Trail might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Cherry Creek when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
