Softball Recap: Patterson Takes a Loss

Patterson had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 10-13 to make it four. They lost 11-3 to the Central Catholic Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on April 4th.

Grace Cruthis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jazmine Isom, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games.

On Central Catholic's side, Stephanie Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Samantha Nichols and Ceriah Fitzhugh did most of the damage at the plate: Nichols went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Fitzhugh went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Fitzhugh a new career-high. Jazmarie Roberts was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Patterson nor Central Catholic have any future games scheduled.
