Recap: San Clemente Tritons vs. Laguna Beach Breakers
The San Clemente Tritons had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They walked away with a 56-44 win over Laguna Beach. Given San Clemente's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Laguna Beach is ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading San Clemente to victory were Christian Fernandez and Porter Hansen. Fernandez scored 18 points, while Hansen scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The match was Hansen's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Will Whidden, who scored seven points along with three blocks.
San Clemente has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Laguna Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Clemente will play host again and welcome Dana Hills, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Laguna Beach will be home for the holidays to greet Aliso Niguel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
