Baseball Recap: Denver Academy Mustangs vs. Arrupe Jesuit Generals
Denver Academy had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 3-10 to make it five. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arrupe Jesuit Generals. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Generals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Denver Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chris Janssen, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Janssen has hit this season.
As for Arrupe Jesuit, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-13. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games.
On Arrupe Jesuit's side, Adrian Rojas Ramirez was a major factor no matter where he played. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Juan-Carlos Cadena, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Auggie Blea was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denver Academy will head out to take on Front Range Baptist at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.33 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Arrupe Jesuit, they are taking a road trip to challenge Middle Park at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
