Softball Recap: Orangeburg Prep Gets the Win

Orangeburg Prep was handed a 15-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Holly Hill Academy Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since March 16, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Prestan Schurlknight, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and four RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was HannaH LambrecHt, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Orangeburg Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holly Hill Academy struck out eight times.

Orangeburg Prep now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Holly Hill Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.

Orangeburg Prep wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 15-0 victory against Colleton Prep Academy on the 25th. As for Holly Hill Academy, they will host Northwood Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
