Basketball Game Preview: Orange Vista Coyotes vs. Heritage Patriots

The Orange Vista Coyotes will take on the Heritage Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Orange Vista has six straight victories, Heritage has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, Orange Vista strolled past Moreno Valley with points to spare, taking the game 61-42. Given the Coyotes' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Vikings are ranked 507th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Henry Washington continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 of 14 en route to 20 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Wooten, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

Orange Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Heritage had to suffer through a 79-52 loss at the hands of Canyon Springs.

Orange Vista's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.
